Lap Leader Programs
Open for the
Oxford 250 & All
That’s Metal 300 |
2024 OXFORD
250 LAP
BOARD |
2024 COA
300 LAP
BOARD |
Oxford,
ME and
Naples, ME
--
Officials at
Oxford
Plains
Speedway
(OPS) and
the Pro All
Stars Series
(PASS)
announced
today that
the popular
lap leader
programs are
officially
open for
their two
marquis
events in
2024, the
Oxford 250
and the All
That's Metal
Celebration
of America
300. The
Oxford 250
will have
the
traditional
$100 laps
while the
300 will
feature $50
lap
sponsorships
up for
grabs. Those
wishing to
participate
will be
given the
option of
the same
laps in both
races when
available.
The lap
leader
program was
introduced
in the 1981
Oxford 250
as a way to
add a unique
twist to the
strategy of
a long
distance
race. The
initial
program paid
$50 per lap
to the
leader,
before
growing to
$100 per lap
in 1984 and
where it has
stayed since
that time.
This year's
early
January
opening
marks
earliest
launch ever
for the lap
leader
program.
"With
two big
events at
Oxford this
year we
wanted to
get a jump
start on
filling up
these laps,"
Said PASS
President
Tom
Mayberry.
"These
programs are
a good way
to add in
some
strategy to
a long
distance
race and in
some cases
there are
some low
budget teams
that earn a
great payday
by leading a
bunch of
laps, which
really helps
them."
Every single
lap of the
past two
Oxford 250s
were sold
for the 49th
and 50th
annual
edition of
the late
summer
classic, and
officials
with OPS and
PASS hope to
accomplish
the feat
again for
both of
these races
in 2024.
Laps
sponsors are
made
available to
businesses
for
advertising
purposes, so
those
sponsoring 3
lap blocks
or more are
able to
include a
logo and
number or
link on the
leaderboards.
Oxford 250
laps at $100
will go
directly to
the leader
of that lap
while the
$50 laps for
the 300 will
see $25 to
the leader
$25 to help
support the
purse.
Laps are
also offered
to
individuals
who wish to
send a
message of
support to
their
favorite
driver,
celebrate a
birthday, or
even in
memory of a
loved one.
All lap
sponsors are
displayed on
the OPS and
PASS
websites and
in person at
the speedway
with a
billboard in
the main
concourse.
To
sponsor a
lap or many,
contact Mary
between 9am
and 7pm at
207-693-6497
or Kevin at

CONCORD,
N.C. (January 9,
2024)
- The Pro
All Stars Series
(PASS) and Racing
America have reached
a multi-year
agreement to
continue their
broadcasting
partnership for the
sanctioning body.
With the agreement,
Racing America
remains the
broadcasting home of
the Pro All Stars
Series for the
coming years.
Among those
events are a packed
slate of Super Late
Model races at
Oxford Plains
Speedway. This
year's calendar
includes the
$40,000-to-win
300-lap Celebration
of America on July
2-3, the PASS 400
weekend on October
19 and the biggest
event of the year,
the Oxford 250 on
August 23-25.
"The streaming
partnership between
PASS and Racing
America has been and
will continue to be
strong for years to
come," said PASS
President, Tom
Mayberry. "The
Oxford 250 continues
as the richest
single-day event in
motorsports and
folks all over the
country will be able
to watch on Racing
America. Add the
Celebration Of
America in July
paying $40,000 to
win and PASS fans
have a lot to be
excited about."
"We are thrilled
to continue our
partnership with the
Pro All Stars Series
in 2024 and beyond,"
said Colin Smith,
President of Racing
America. "PASS has
become a favorite
among our fanbase
and we are excited
to get their season
underway."
The Oxford 250 is
one of the biggest
Super Late Model
events of the year
and celebrated its
50th annual running
in 2023. Cole
Butcher celebrated
his second win in
the event one year
ago. Racing America
has been the
broadcasting home of
the Oxford 250 since
2015, presenting
what has always been
considered one of
the biggest short
track events in the
Northeastern United
States to a national

Update
on
"Bottle Cap Crate"
2024 SLM
Engine Options |
Dec, 27 -
Naples, ME -
Officials
at the Pro All Stars Series
(PASS) provided an update
today on the new "Bottle Cap
Crate" engine option that
will be available for all
PASS competitors for the
2024 season. The "Bottle Cap
Crate" option was rolled out
to competitors in early
November and sales have been
brisk.
PASS President
Tom Mayberry commented about
the new engine package
option, "We are really.
really happy with the
initial round of orders for
these motors. We have
already had 15 or 16 teams
order an engine, and we are
getting calls and emails
almost every day for more."
Each engine
purchased through the PASS
sealed engine program comes
straight from GM to the PASS
approved engine builder, LCM
Racing Engines, for a dyno
break-in and test. LCM sets
the timing, performs a
4-hour break-in procedure,
and then seals each motor
with TWO PASS-specific seals
registered with the
sanctioning body. Teams
simply provide their own
fuel pump and distributor
and then can pick up a race
ready engine to drop into
their cars and go.
"We felt like it was
important to provide a good
break-in procedure to verify
that each engine is
performing at its optimum
level when it leaves the LCM
Engine Shop," Said Mayberry.
"LCM has agreed to do this
at a discounted rate so we
can keep the total cost to
teams under $10k."
Teams running the "Bottle
Cap Crate" option will
be afforded a 25 lb. weight
break at every track on the
PASS schedule, with
additional breaks at
Thompson and New Hampshire
Motor Speedway TBD.
Mayberry went on to say
there will be another order
placed with GM within the
next month or so to
accommodate the ever growing
interest for both the PASS
tour and weekly competition
at Oxford Plains Speedway.
The 602 "Bottle Cap"
crate motor option for PASS
MODS was also rolled
out less than a month ago
and interest has been high
there as well. "We had one
driver order one right away,
and we have had several more
calls from drivers in need
of a fresh motor who want to
order very soon," said
Mayberry. "PASS MODS race a
little less than the SLM's
so an engine may last a team
a little longer. But as they
wear out, it's a great way
for them to get a sealed
motor and get a weight
break. It's the same engine
they are already running,
just with a seal so we know
it has not been tampered
with."
To
place your order, please
contact the Offices of PASS
at (207) 693-6497 or
passracing@roadrunner.com
before February 1st,
or contact Tom and Mike
Mayberry to get your name on
this list, For technical

2nd Northeast
Classic Win |
Loudon, NH —
Blue skies and
sunshine greeted the
teams and fans at
New Hampshire Motor
Speedway on Sunday
morning for the 4th
annual Northeast
Classic.
DJ
Shaw #60 and Mike
Hopkins #15 led the
SLM pack to the
green with Hopkins
taking the lead over
Shaw, Corey Hall
#83, and Eddie
MacDonald #17ma.
MacDonald worked his
way up to second by
lap 15 and passed
Hopkines on lap 16.
Red flags then
stopped the show
twice as Trevor
Sanborn #44 hit the
turn two wall and
caught fire after
contact with Dennis
Spencer on lap 19.
Then on lap 23 Nick
Lascula #39L tangled
with Josh King #21
in turn one.
‘The Outlaw’
Eddie MacDonald
showed the way as
the class of the
field following the
competition caution
while DJ Shaw, Ben
Rowe and New
Brunswick’s Hall
battled for second.
The lap 41
caution for debris
allowed the field
one final chance at
Eddie MacDonald but
The Outlaw outgunned
the field with DJ
Shaw and Johnny
Clark rounding out
the podium.
The win marks back
to back victories
for the #17ma and is
the 13th for
MacDonald at New
Hampshire Motor
Speedway in a
variety of PASS,
ACT, and Busch North
events. |

Griffith & Stone
Take Icebreaker
Victories,
Mother Nature Steals
the Sunshine |
Thompson, CT --
A partly cloudy day
was had at Thompson
Speedway's Saturday
opener to the 50th
Icebreaker weekend
with plenty of rain
to darken the
spirits on an
exciting opening day
schedule of events.
The crew at Thompson
Speedway kept the
track dry enough to
get in full feature
events for both the
Thompson Street
Stocks and the PASS
Super Late Models
but the Monaco
Modified Tri-Track
Series was a
casualty to the rain
and will be
postponed to the
Friday of World
Series weekend on
October 11.
Following qualifying
for all divisions
originally scheduled
for Saturday's
festivities, the
Pro All Stars Series
(PASS) Super Late
Models took
the field. After
taking the victory
lap in their
respective heat race
qualifiers, New
Hampshire drivers
D.J. Shaw and Wayne
Helliwell, Jr. led
the field to green.
An early caution for
a back-field
squabble in turn
three saw
Massachusetts'
hot-shoe Eddie
MacDonald chase down
early leader Shaw
and, after battling
side-by-side, took
over the lead before
a lap 39 rain delay.
Two restarts led
to two spirited
battles between Shaw
and MacDonald with
'The Outlaw' taking
charge but facing a
mirror full of Derek
Griffith. With
fifteen laps
remaining Griffith
began to show his
hand, growing ever
closer to MacDonald
while maintaining a
safe distance,
poised to pounce as
laps wound down.
While a second and
third rain delay
dashed Griffith's
original chase, the
Hudson, New
Hampshire native
powered by MacDonald
on the final restart
to claim the
Icebreaker gold over
Shaw and MacDonald.
The
Street Stocks
started the 2024
Thompson Speedway
track championship
chase on Saturday
with a three-wide
start in their
25-lap feature
event. Multi-time
Waterford Speedbowl
champion Al Stone
III took advantage
of a slip-up for
'Leadfoot' Larry
Barnett to take the
lead and growing it
ahead of 2023 title
contenders Corey
Fanning and Ryan
Waterman. A short
rain delay re-racked
the field with Stone
and Waterman
battling as Aaron
Plemons took over
third from Fanning.
While Stone
quickly reasserted
his dominance, a
spinning Austin
Flannagin in turn
two brought out the
final caution to set
up an eight-lap
fight to the finish.
Waterman gave it all
he had left in the
tank on the final
restart but Al Stone
III took charge on
the outside lane and
rim rode the
Thompson highbanks
to the Icebreaker
victory! Aaron
Plemons followed
Stone and Ryan
Waterman to round
out the top three.
The inaugural
event for the
Monaco Modified
Tri-Track Series
fought the on-again,
off-again rain
clouds all day long,
much to everyone's
dismay. Matt
Hirschman, Ronnie
Williams and Anthony
Nocella were able to
claim heat race
qualifying wins but
constant rain and
inability to dry the
track after sunset
pushed both track
and Monaco Modified
series officials to
postpone the
Constantine Paving &
Sealing 75 to
headline Friday,
October 11; The
opening day of
Sunoco World Series
weekend.
Kevin Moore and Dave
Trudeau split the
Mini Stock heat wins
on Saturday while
Jon Puleo won the
first race, a
qualifying heat, for
the new Sunoco 604
Modified class. The
Mini Stock feature
will be run
tomorrow, Sunday,
April 7 and the
Sunoco 604 Modifieds
will run both their
Saturday make-up and
the originally
scheduled Sunday
event. The Evolve
Bank & Mortgage Pro
Truck Series will
not run a make-up
event on Sunday,
plans for their
make-up will be
announced in the
near future.
