PASS Super Late Models To Nova Scotia
(Naples, ME
June 22, 2006) A dozen or more of the PASS North Super Late Models will be arriving
at Scotia Speedworld in Halifax Nova Scotia over the next two days for the Forbes
Chev-Olds 200 on Sunday, June 25th.
Cassius Clark has been the man to beat over the first three races of 2006 with wins in all
three. However, Johnny Clark was the leader for over 125 laps in the May 27th race at
Canaan Fair Motorsports Complex, but a broken brake rotor put him and second-place runner
Patrick Laperle out of contention. Whether the combination of car, team, talent and Lady
Luck continues to shine on Cassius as the tour moves to Scotia Speedworld will be
determined Saturday night after 200 laps of action. Or will she turn back to Johnny Clark
to make up for the Canaan finish? Or will Mike Rowe shake off the little things that have
kept him off the podium so far in 2006? Or will Shawn Turple, Scott Alexander, Mike
MacKenzie, Wayne Smith, or John Flemming thrill the hometown crowd with the victory?Last years Forbes
Chev-Olds 200 was a great battle between Mike Rowe and Cassius over the final 15 laps,
with Johnny Clark, Travis Benjamin, Alexander, and Turple the last cars on the lead lap.
Mike took the win with Cassius second.
Ben Rowe, like
his dad, is looking to turn things around and get that first win for the Richard Moody
team after a slow start with an eighteenth, a third, and a seventh so far in 06.
Thats not the Benjie were used to seeing.
And you cant rule out Richie Dearborn, who has been a slow starter in past years,
but took second at Canaan and is third in the points, which is his best start ever in PASS
competition.
Travis Benjamin looks a lot better in 06 than he did in 05 when his luck was so bad it
couldnt even be called bad luck. His fourth last year in the 200 was no fluke, and
hes off to a good start in 06 and is currently sitting fifth in the points.
The time for prognostication and guessing is over. Whether its a Rowe, a Clark,
Turple, Alexander, Flemming or a surprise winner, the packed house at Scotia Speedworld
Saturday night will see another great race as the best Super Late Model racers from New
England and the best from the Maritimes go at it.
Please note that in the event that Mother Nature doesnt cooperate Saturday night the
race will be run Sunday afternoon. |
