PASS South Win Number Three
 for Ryan Blaney at Newport
Edges closer to Peltier in the title chase after a rough and tumble Daniel Boone Classic
Naples, ME 8/9/10- The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South super late models got back on track Saturday night at Newport (TN) Speedway and Ryan Blaney picked up where he left off in July, earning his third win of 2010 in the third annual Daniel Boone Classic.

Blaney’s win, coupled with point leader Preston Peltier’s first 2010 finish outside the top ten has made the PASS South championship battle a lot tighter. Pending official results, both Blaney and second place finisher Andy Loden have cut Peltier’s point lead to less than fifteen points as the series heads into its final four events of 2010.

Andy Loden continued to impress, setting fast time during Pro Photo Productions qualifying and backing it up with a second place finish after overcoming a one lap deficit early on. Justin Wakefield rounded out the podium with a solid yet disappointing third place finish. Throughout the day the Carswell Motorsports #98 Ford experienced brake issues and only managed to hit the track for five minutes of practice time throughout the afternoon. In the end it was the event’s final restart that cost him the lead and a second 2010 PASS victory with just six laps remaining.

The sparks flew and the bumpers were busy throughout the race but several battles stood out above the rest. Nate Montieth; making his first career PASS series start, led the most laps but the PASS rookie was warned on several occasions for rough driving. Veteran Mart Nesbitt battled hard with both Heath Hindman and two time defending Daniel Boone Classic 125 winner Jay Fogleman, but the rough and tumble action cost all three a shot at the win.

The next PASS South event hits the track on Saturday August 28th when the series makes their lone trip to the state of Virginia for the SoBo 150 at the South Boston Speedway in South Boston, Virginia. PASS South will bring racing back to life at North Wilkesboro Speedway on September 3-4.
