Whited RV Qualifying Day Action-Packed

The DNK Select Big Dawg Challenge is just a few short weeks away and Saturday’s Whited RV and Ford Truck Center Qualifying Day is shaping up as an exciting day of racing for Pro Stock and Late Model competitors alike.

Qualifying day kicks off with morning practice for the Big Dawg Challenge and Late Model open entrants. Sunoco Race Fuels time trials kick off at 4 PM, followed by Late Model heat races, lined up by the luck of the draw. Then it’s on to four 50-lap Big Dawg Challenge qualifiers, 200 laps of what should prove to be some of the weekends most exciting racing as the fields vie for one of the seven Big Dawg transfer spots up for grabs in each qualifier. There’s more at stake back through the field as racers that finish in positions eight through fourteen automatically transfer to Sunday’s “B” Main qualifier while racers that finish outside the top fourteen have to race their way into the “B” later on in one of Saturday’s two “C” Mains

The Late Model Open 100 should prove to be the perfect companion to Big Dawg qualifying. Simple rules allow Late Models and “limited rules” Pro Stocks from virtually every track in the Northeast to take a shot at the $2,000.00 winner’s purse, and the winner of the Late Model 100 will have to make a tough decision right in Victory Lane. Will he take the $2,000.00 prize and load up, or accept a check for $1,000.00 and an automatic transfer spot into Sunday’s DNK Select Big Dawg Challenge?

The only way to find out is to be at Wiscasset Raceway on Saturday October 11th for Whited RV and Ford Truck Center Qualifying Day. Tickets for Saturday’s action are $25.00 for adults, $20.00 for juniors and seniors, and $15.00 for kids 6-12. Kids under six will be admitted free with a paid adult. Individual Saturday and Sunday general admission tickets are available now at the Raceway ticket booth on race nights or by calling  (207) 780-8147 Monday through Friday from 9 AM until 5 PM.

There are also a limited number of 2-day reserved seat tickets available. Call the number listed, or drop by DNK Select Used Cars at 530 Maine Avenue in Farmingdale Maine (888) 582-3465.

“Big Dawg” Weekend Schedule Released

September 15th   Wiscasset Raceway has released the schedule for the Pro All Stars-sanctioned DNK Select Used Cars Big Dawg Challenge weekend, and the three days of racing offers something for everyone, race fans and competitors alike. HERE

Friday October 10th will see a full card of racing featuring a 100-lap super street/limited feature with $1,000.00 going to the winner. Simple rules will allow racers from all over the northeast to compete. Big Dawg practice will also highlight the evening along with stock 4’s and stock 8’s, a flagpole race and a ladies’ division feature. The grandstands open at 11 AM and racing gets underway at 6:30 with a Big Dawg happy hour scheduled to follow the evening’s racing card.

Saturday the Big Dawg gets into high gear with Whited RV and Truck Center qualifying day. The pressure will be on when Sunoco Race Fuels time trials take to the Raceway followed by Big Dawg heat races and two “C” Mains. A highlight of Saturday’s program will be the100 lap Late Model Open race with liberal rules that allow any of the Northeast’s late models as well as limited-rules Pro Stocks to compete. The winner will take home a check for $2,000.00 or $1,000.00 and a guaranteed transfer spot to Sunday’s Big Dawg Challenge! Grandstands will open at 2 PM with Big Dawg time trials slated for 4 PM.

Then Sunday it’s time for the Big Dawgs to bark! The last chance 50 lap “B” Main will prove to be a war for the final few Big Dawg Challenge transfer spots, and then it will be time to settle in for driver introductions and watch the first ever $100,000.00 to win DNK Select Used Cars Big Dawg Challenge, scheduled to go green at 2:15 PM.

“We’ve done our best to put together one of the most exciting weekends of racing you’re likely to see anywhere,” Says Wiscasset Raceway Promoter Tom Mayberry. ”Every day holds something special for racers and race fans of all divisions. Friday nights’ Big Dawg practice and 100 lap Super Street show should make for a great show, as will as Saturday’s Whited RV and Truck Center qualifying day. We’ve got four fifty lap heat races planned as well as the 100 lap Late Model open with a Big Dawg transfer spot at stake, too. We’re receiving requests for entry blanks and inquiries from all over the country; and I guarantee that you’ll see an all-star field on Sunday. Just knowing that one competitor in the pit area will walk away at the end of the day with a possible $100,000.00 payday is hard to believe, but by early evening we’ll know who has won their race of a lifetime!”

The raceway has secured three adjoining fields for parking, and camper parking will be permitted in the upper parking lot (adjacent to the raceway) beginning Wednesday October 8th at 9 AM. Please be advised that you must have advance tickets to the Big Dawg Challenge in order to use this parking area.

MAYBERRY, PASS ANNOUNCE $100,000.00 TO WIN
“BIG DAWG CHALLENGE”

PORTLAND ME - Pro All Stars Series President Tom Mayberry today announced that the Pro All Stars Series will sanction the Big Dawg Challenge, a 400 lap Pro Stock race event to be held at Wiscasset Raceway in Wiscasset Maine on Saturday and Sunday October 11 and 12, 2003. The Big Dawg Challenge will post awards in excess of $195,000.00 with a possible $100,000.00 to the race winner.

According to Mayberry, “I’m very excited to be able to announce this record breaking event for Pro Stock racers. I’ve always considered these race teams to be the backbone of our sport, here in the Northeast and in many other parts of the country as well. Over 150 pro stock teams attempted to qualify for a PASS sanctioned event in 2002, and the Big Dawg Challenge is our way of saying thank you to the grass roots racers that have supported the PASS during our first two seasons. Our goal is to build an annual event that will bring Pro Stock teams from all over the country together for bragging rights and a remarkable payday. The winner of this event will certainly be considered Pro Stock racing’s “Big Dawg” for 2003!”

The Big Dawg Challenge will feature a two-day format with time trials, qualifying races and a “C” main on Saturday. Sunday’s schedule includes a “B” main and the 400-lap “Big Dawg Challenge”.
