To All South Super Late
Model Competitors |
The new rules linked
above are to try to get
everything closer with
options. The only rules and
weight changes that apply to
the South are for the crate
motor options. All other
weights transmissions,
carburetor and engine
options that were legal in
the South in 2014 are still
legal,
EXCEPT for the crate
motor rules. |

PASS SOUTH TECH
BULLETIN - CRATE MOTORS
-
|
. > 2700
lbs: GM 604 400 fast burn
sealed crate engine with 650
cfm. Carburetor.
For
some race teams and motor
builders that feel that they
may make some modification
to the 604 crate motor,
whether a performance gain
or not, everyone needs to
realize that there is a zero
tolerance in the PASS rule
book. The PASS rule book
clearly states at 2700 lbs
the motor must be run with
no modifications or changes.
To run at 2750 lbs you may
do the following only.
> GM crate (spec) engine in
sealed factory form
permitted. Permitted with
1.6 Rocker change 'Bee-Hive'
valve springs - Balancer
change - 6 " deep wet sump
oil pan change. At
competition weight of 2750
lbs.
No modifications
permitted other than
specified.
If any
other modifications to your
crate motor are made, it
must be declared ahead of
time and weight must be 2800
lbs. Any violation for crate
motors for these rules is
disqualification and loss of
engine.
The idea
behind the crate motors was
to give a weight break and
give a more economical way
to race, not to have motor
builders charge you an
excessive amount of money to
make further changes to the
crate motors.
As far
as PASS South Pro Late
Models, your crate motors
are 100% stock from GM, no
modifications.
We had
a PASS race team that got so
close to the line that they
stepped over it, whether
performance enhanced or not.
PASS has a zero tolerance in
this matter. |

PASS South Super Late Model Testing
Policy
|
The PASS
South Super Late Models Series cut
off day to test for an event is 7
full days before the event which
means if the race is on a Saturday
the last day a team can test without
being penalized is the Friday of the
week prior to the event. The only
exception to this rule is if there
is an open practice that is approved
by the Pro All Stars Series and open
to all competitors. If a team tests
within 7 days of the event that team
will only receive one lap in time
trials and if they qualify they will
start at the rear of the field for
the main event. Teams will also
forfeit 25 points for testing within
7 days of the event. Any driver,
crew member, car owner, or crew
chief from another team that is in
the pits when another team is
testing will also be penalized in
the same way as the team that tests. |
PASS South Pro Late Model Testing
Policy

PASS
to Allow
Ford
McGunegill Crate Engines
in
Pro
Late Models
in
2014 |
CHARLOTTE, NC
(January 9) - Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) officials
announced today that the
Ford McGunegill crate engine
will be legal for
competition in the PASS Pro
Late Model division in 2014.
Cars using a 4412 carburetor
must weigh 2950 pounds and
those using the 350 cfm. 2
barrel holley HP carburetor
must weigh 2925 pounds.
"We tested this
configuration for the Ford
McGunegill crate engine at
Southern National in
November and we were pleased
with the results," said PASS
President Tom Mayberry.
"We've had a lot of interest
from teams that have the
Ford McGunegill crate and we
feel that this will only add
to the great competition we
saw last year out of the
PASS Pro Late Models."
The PASS Pro Late Model
division utilizes cars
similar to the PASS South
Super Late Models with a
limited tire usage rule and
restrictions on engines and
shocks. The division
provides an avenue for
racers to compete at many of
the same tracks that the
PASS South Super Late Models
compete on and serves as a
stepping stone for drivers
looking to make the next
step in their racing
careers. In 2014, the PASS
Pro Late Models will race 13
times in conjunction with
the PASS South Super Late
Model division. |
