Big Events At Oxford
Plains,
Seekonk, and Lanier
To Close Out PASS
Season |
NAPLES, ME
(October 10) - While
the 2019 Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) Super Late
Model calendar is winding
down, there are still three
big events left to decide
who the champions will be.
The PASS Modified champion
will be crowned on Saturday,
October 19 at Oxford Plains
Speedway as the Maine racing
season concludes with the
PASS 400 weekend. The PASS
North Super Late Model title
will be decided at Oxford
Plains and with the season
finale at Seekonk Speedway
on Saturday, October 26.
And, the PASS National
Championship will go down to
the wire at Seekonk and the
much-anticipated return to
racing at Georgia's Lanier
Raceplex.
The PASS
400 weekend at Oxford Plains
will see a big Saturday of
action featuring the Honey
Badger Bar & Grill 150 for
the PASS North Super Late
Models, plus a $1000 to win
feature for the PASS
Modifieds and action for the
ACT Flying Tigers, Bandits,
and Street Stocks. The 2019
PASS Modified season has
seen a resurgence in the
division with increased car
counts and seven different
winners so far this year.
The race for the title will
come down to points leader,
Spencer Morse, Jairet
Harrison, and Mike Carignan.
The battle for the
Northeast's most prestigious
Super Late Model
championship has come down
to four drivers, all within
100 points of one another.
New Hampshire's DJ Shaw
looks to defend his title
from a year ago, knowing
that a bad finish could
prove disastrous with big
fields expected at Oxford
Plains and Seekonk. Fellow
Granite Stater, Derek
Griffith, has come on strong
during the second half of
the season and now sits just
nine points behind Shaw. Ben
Rowe's streak of having
never missed a PASS North
race since the series began
in 2001 continues as he
seeks his fifth North title.
While rookie, Gabe Brown, is
still in contention for his
first series championship.
Massachusetts' Seekonk
Speedway will hold the PASS
NORTH season finale on
Saturday, October 29 and it
will double as the
penultimate race of the PASS
National Championship season
which will be decided in
November at Lanier. PASS
will be part of a big show
at Seekonk which will also
feature The Haunted Hundred
for the Tri-Track Open
Modified Series and a $2000
to win Late Model event.
It will all conclude
with one of the most
anticipated events of the
season when PASS brings
racing back to Lanier
Raceplex for the first time
in nearly a decade. The
Lanier National 200 will
crown the 2019 PASS National
Champion and, hopefully,
start a new fall tradition
at Lanier. Richmond Raceway
winner, Mike Hopkins, sits
37 points ahead of defending
national champion, Derek
Griffith, while Travis
Benjamin, Ben Rowe, Ray
Christian, III, and Jake
Johnson still have a shot at
the title. In addition to
the PASS Super Late Models
at Lanier, Legends cars will
return to the 3/8-mile
speedway with Pros/Masters,
Semi-Pros, and Young Lions,
along with Bandoleros as
well.
PASS Super Late
Model entry forms for Oxford
Plains Speedway and Seekonk
Speedway, along with the
PASS National Championship
finale at Lanier Raceplex in
Georgia, can be found at
ProAllStarsSeries.com.
The Pro All Stars Series
is recognized as North
America's premier
sanctioning body for asphalt
Super Late Models and boasts
such marquee events as the
legendary Oxford 250 at
Oxford Plains Speedway,
Easter Bunny 150 at the
historic Hickory Motor
Speedway, and the PASS
Commonwealth Classic at
Richmond Raceway.

Tiger
Oxford Open Shaping Up
as Perfect Season-Ender |
TIGERS ENTRIES RECEIVED - OPS - 10-19 |
Waterbury, VT
- The first-ever visit to
Maine's Oxford Plains
Speedway for the
American-Canadian Tour (ACT)
Flying Tigers is coming up
this Saturday, October 19.
The Flying Tiger Oxford Open
75 ends the 2019 ACT season
with a landmark event for
the sanctioning body's
longest-running division.
The entry list continues
to grow as the big day
approaches with more than 30
cars now expected. Weekly
racers from Vermont's
Thunder Road and New
Hampshire's White Mountain
Motorsports Park (WMMP) and
Riverside Speedway have
jumped at the chance to race
on the historic 3/8-mile
oval. Other former regulars
from around the region have
worked out one-race deals
for what could be a
once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity.
"It's
something different,"
Milton's Robert Gordon. "A
lot of the excitement is
because the Tigers have
never raced at Oxford in the
past. It's also the end of
the year, so nobody has any
other events that are
depending on their car being
wrecked or not. I think it's
great. Anytime you can bring
attention to the Tiger
division, whether it's at
home or away, is a good
thing."
Ever since
its founding in 1986, the
Flying Tigers have been a
staple of ACT and its
sanctioned tracks. The
Tigers recently wrapped up
their 38th straight year of
competition at Thunder Road
and have had long stints at
WMMP and Riverside Speedway.
They also competed for many
years at New York's
Plattsburgh Airborne
Speedway and the former
Catamount Stadium of
Vermont. The former Tiger
Tour visited tracks such as
Quebec'sSanair Super
Speedway and New Hampshire's
Lee USA Speedway and Canaan
Fair Speedway.
Names
continue to be added to the
entry list on an almost
daily basis. Entries have
been received from Barton's
Shane Sicard and
Plainfield's Michael Potter,
the top two drivers in White
Mountain Motorsports Park
points this season. Thunder
Road regulars Gordon and
Jason Pelkey have signed up
for the event as have
brothers Craig and Brad
Bushey of Riverside
Speedway. Gordon and Craig
Bushey, who have significant
experience at flatter tracks
such as Airborne and Devil's
Bowl Speedway, might have a
good starting point to work
with when practice gets
underway.
I'm hoping
that experience helps,"
Gordon said. "Of course, I
had a whole different car
and setup when I was racing
at those tracks. I think
Devil's Bowl turns 3 and 4
are going to be the closest
as far as the type of
corners it's going to have.
I've never been on the
track, though, so I really
don't know what to expect -
and I think pretty much
everyone else feels the
same."
The Flying
Tiger Oxford Open is going
international as Dave
O'Blenis, a Super Late Model
racer at New Brunswick's
Speedway 660, is making his
first Tiger start.
Multi-time former Flying
Tiger winners Tucker
Williams of Hyde Park and
Eric Johnson of Randolph
Center are returning to the
division's ranks in
one-event deals. St.
Johnsbury's Kasey Beattie
will make his Flying Tiger
debut at Oxford after
spending the last three
years competing in the
Street Stock ranks. ACT
announcer Aaron Maynard is
taking the weekend off from
the microphone to pilot his
Tiger car around Oxford.
They join some of the
biggest names in Northeast
auto racing making the trek
to western Maine. Three-time
Thunder Road Flying Tiger
champion Jason Woodard, 2019
Thunder Road Rookie of the
Year Stephen Martin, former
North East Mini Stock Tour
Champion Cody LeBlanc, and
multi-time ACT Late Model
winner John Donahue are just
a few of the drivers getting
ready for the landmark
event.
Weekly racing
stars Tyler Austin, Logan
Powers, Kevin Boutin Jr.,
and Kyle Streeter are also
among the Oxford entries.
Saturday's event will be a
family affair as well with
four father-child
combinations - Jason and
Kelsea Woodard, Mike and
Stephen Martin, Kevin and
Kyle Streeter, and John and
Stephen Donahue -- in the
field along with the Bushey
brothers and the
uncle/nephew combo of
Michael and Matthew Potter.
The Flying Tiger class
travels to Maine's Oxford
Plains Speedway this
Saturday, October 19 at
1:00pm for the Flying Tiger
Oxford Open. The event is
part of the PASS 400 Weekend
season finale that includes
the Pro All Stars Series
Super Late Models, PASS
Modifieds, Honey Badger
Street Stock Series, and
Bandit Triple Crown Series.
The pits open at 8:00am and
the grandstands open at
10:00am. Admission is $20
for adults, $10 for kids
ages 6-12, and $45 for a
family of four (2 adults, 2
kids).

Growing
Tiger Field Eager for
Division's
First Trip to Oxford |
Waterbury, VT
- For many American-Canadian
Tour (ACT) Flying Tiger
racers in Vermont and New
Hampshire, the 2019 racing
campaign now has an
end-of-season bonus. The
famed division is making its
first ever trip to Maine's
Oxford Plains Speedway on
Saturday, October 19 at
1:00pm for a 75-lap showdown
as part of PASS 400 Weekend.
The entry list for the
Flying Tiger Oxford Open has
already surpassed
expectations and continues
to grow as the big day
reaches closer. Top weekly
racers from through the
region such as Jason
Woodard, Cooper Bouchard,
Mike Martin, Tyler Austin,
and Christian Laflamme are
ready to tackle the 3/8-mile
oval for the first time.
"The second ACT
mentioned it was a
possibility - I think it was
at White Mountain - I was
sitting next to my buddy
Colin (Cornell), and I said,
'Dude, that's huge. Are you
in?'," Hinesburg's Bouchard
recalled. "He said, 'Yeah,
I'm in.' That was before
there were even any details
out. When Cris (Michaud)
mentioned they were thinking
about doing it, I thought,
'that's an easy yes for me.
I'll cancel whatever plans I
have just to do that.' It's
not often that something
like this happens."
The Flying Tigers are the
oldest active division
sanctioned by ACT and have
long been considered the top
support division in the
Northeast. The modern
incarnation of the Tiger
class has been a weekly
division at Barre, VT's
Thunder Road since 1982.
Flying Tigers are also on
the weekly card at N.
Woodstock, NH's White
Mountain Motorsports Park
and Groveton, NH's Riverside
Speedway. Over the past 38
years, the Flying Tigers
have raced at current and
former tracks around the
region, including
Plattsburgh Airborne
Speedway, Sanair Super
Speedway, Canaan Fair
Speedway, Lee USA Speedway,
and Catamount Stadium.
Now the Tigers are
visiting the track that is
home to the legendary Oxford
250 and other major events.
They will be part of a
packed card that includes
150 laps for the Pro All
Stars Series (PASS) Super
Late Models plus season
finales for the PASS
Modifieds, Honey Badger Bar
& Grill Street Stock Series,
and Bandit Triple Crown
Series. The winner will join
a track history book that
includes famous names such
as Kevin Harvick, Kyle
Busch, Geoffrey Bodine,
Ricky Craven, Dave Dion, and
Mike Rowe.
"I know
it's going to be a little
tough learning a new track,"
Bouchard said. "There's not
as much grip there, and it's
a lot flatter, and I'm used
to the banks. It'll be a big
learning curve, not only
because it's a new track,
but because it's a different
track than what I'm used to
racing on. But
realistically, I just want
to keep the car in one
piece, enjoy my time there,
and take it all in as I'm
doing it. It's probably a
once-in-a-lifetime thing for
the Tigers."
"It's
Oxford," Bouchard added.
"When you think of Oxford,
you think of lots of big
names and faces racing there
from all over. It's going to
be exciting to try something
new and be on the same track
that some of the greats have
been on."
Racers from
throughout Vermont and New
Hampshire have jumped at the
chance to head to Maine for
one more race in 2019. A
host of Thunder Road
regulars have entered the
event, including three-time
and reigning champion Jason
Woodard of Waterbury Center,
Rookie of the Year Stephen
Martin of Craftsbury, and
2019 winners Bouchard, Mike
Martin, Colin Cornell, Kevin
Streeter, and Sam Caron.
Top-10 point drivers Tyler
Austin, Logan Powers, and
Kelsea Woodard have filed
entries along with
part-timers Adam Maynard and
Brian Delphia.
At
least two Flying Tiger
winners at White Mountain
Motorsports Park this
season, Whitefield, NH's
Christian Laflamme and
Marshfield's Matt Potter,
are making the trek to
Oxford. New Hampshire racing
will also be represented by
Speedway 51 regulars Mike
Clark, Jon Boutin, and Kevin
Boutin plus current Late
Model competitor Cody
LeBlanc of Littleton, NH.
John and Stephen Donahue
- both former Flying Tiger
champions at Thunder Road -
are getting back behind the
wheel of Tiger cars for the
event. Add in drivers like
Jerrad Ledger and Brian
Gosselin, and the field is
one sure to put on an
exciting show.
The
Flying Tiger Oxford Open at
Oxford Plains Speedway is
coming Saturday, October 19.
Post time is 1:00pm for the
PASS 400 Weekend season
finale. The pits open at
8:00am and the grandstands
open at 10:00am. Admission
is $20 for adults, $10 for
kids ages 6-12, and $45 for
a family of four (2 adults,
2 kids).
