Doiron Doubles Down
|
Woodstock NH (September
19) - Fresh of a third place
finish in the Oxford 250 and a
triumph in weekly action at Oxford
Plains Speedway, Joey Doiron doubled
down for another victory at White
Mountain Motorsports Park Saturday
night. The Doiron double, however,
came in a different car as he drove
the Dale Shaw Racecars #16 owned by
Wright Pearson to his first PASS win
since June of 2017. Chasing Doiron
across the line was point leader and
defending champion DJ Shaw and Ben
Rowe, followed by Gabe Brown and
Jeremy Davis.
Doiron's win
was not without excitement as the
lead was hotly contested throughout
the entire 150 lap contest. Early
leader Gabe Brown swapped the point
with Doiron for the better part of
the first 60 laps before running
afoul of a lapped car pushed him
back to 5th. DJ Shaw would then take
his turn battling Doiron for
multiple laps before spending his
own time at the front. A lap 102
yellow set the stage for a Shaw
shootout before Doiron eventually
showed he had the best car and
stretched his advantage over the
last 25 laps for his 12th PASS win
of his career. Doiron became the 6th
different winner in races this year.
DJ Shaw came home in the
runner-up spot and extended his slim
point lead as the tour enters the
homestretch of the 2020 campaign.
Ben Rowe recovered from early race
struggles that nearly put the former
champion down a lap early to finish
out in the third position. Early
leader Gabe Brown ran in the top 5
for the majority of the 150 laps and
settled for 4th while Jeremy Davis
scored his 3rd top 5 in a half a
dozen starts on the year. Rounding
out the top 10 were Mike Hopkins,
250 winner Johnny Clark, Trevor
Sanborn, Corey Bubar, and Craig
Weinsten.
PASS gets the week
off before traveling to the always
exciting Thunder Road Speedway on
Friday October 2nd. The 58th Annual
World Series of Auto Racing at
Thompson Motorsports Speedway
follows that with practice and heats
on Saturday the 10th and a 75 lap
event on Sunday the 11th (nothing
Friday). PASS then makes its way
back at Oxford Plains Speedway on
the 17th. The Season finale at
Seekonk in Massachusetts is
cancelled, however watch the website
for more information on a
replacement race.
The Pro
All Stars Series is recognized as

Wild Bill Dixon
Survives a Wild One
|
Wild
Bill Dixon survived a wild
50 lap PASS MODS feature
Saturday for his 5th career
win. Dixon, who started pole
in the 22 car field, turned
back all challengers in a
deep 22 car field.
Scampering across the line
behind Dixon was Max
Cookson, in only his 2nd
career MODS start, and point
leader Tyler King who
recovered from early race
problems to extend his point
lead with only two races
remaining. Spencer Vaughn
ran as high as second before
getting shuffled back to 4th
at the end, with Mike Davis
rounding out the top 5.
Dixon, a long time part
time competitor in the PASS
MODS tour, breaks a 7 year
dry spell with his last
victory coming in 2013.
PASS MODS visit the high
banks of Thunder Road in
Vermont on October 2nd
before returning to Oxford
Plains Speedway on the 17th
for their finale. |

Renfrew Masters His
Debut |
Jimmy Renfrew, and his Renfrew
Motorsports team, are well known in
the Northeast as fierce competitors
in the street stock type cars.
Saturday was no different as
he wired the 40 lap Honey Badger
Street Stock Series race for his
first career win in his first start.
Using the benefit of his pole
starting spot in the heat, Renfrew
parlayed that into his 1st
place starting spot for the feature
and never looked back at the drop of
the green.
HBSSS point leader Jordan Russell
brought it home in the 2nd
spot and was closing in on Renfrew
in the closing laps before running
out of time.
In a clean race Russell
stated he just needed a yellow to
catch up after being regulated to a
7th starting spot.
Matt Dufault survived a
blistered tire to score the final
podium spot while Brian Caswell and
Mark Turner rounded out the top 5.
The HBSSS make the
trek to Thunder Road in Vermont on
October 2nd before
returning to Oxford Plains Speedway
on the 17th for their
finale.
