Joey
Pole #4nh
and Curtis
Gerry #7g,
both top
notch
drivers
still
searching
for their
first PASS
win on the
season as
the year is
starting to
come to a
close,
brought the
field down
to the slow
green flag.
Pole was
able to use
his pole
starting
position to
lead the
first few
laps as
former
Oxford
Plains
Speedway SLM
Champion
Alan Tardif
#9t charged
his way into
the second
spot.
Caution
number one
would fly
for the
Windham
native of
Rusty Poland
#44 as his
automobile
spun on the
front
stretch. The
second
caution
would follow
just a lap
later as
Scott
McDaniel
#14, Colby
Benjamin
#53bv, and
Shawn Knight
#25 tangled
down in turn
one. On the
restart Kyle
Desouza #1
made his way
to the rear
bumper of
Pole for a
moment, but
the man on
the charge
was Max
Cookson #39.
The
19-year-old
Cookson from
Pittsfield
in his
rookie
season ran
down Desouza
and passed
him with
relative
ease.
Already a
3-time
Oxford
Championship
Series
winner,
Cookson has
picked up
the 2022 RB
Performance
SLM
Championship
and has been
a contender
in every
PASS race
he's entered
this year.
His JM
Builders
machine
worked under
the Richard
Moody Racing
#4nh of Joey
Pole on lap
35 to take
the lead and
begin
separating
himself from
the rest of
the field.
However,
contact from
Rusty Poland
#44 with
fellow
Windham
resident
Brandon
Barker
caused the
#88 to go
for a spin
bringing out
the third
caution of
the race
just a lap
after
Cookson
stole away
the top
spot. Last
year's
October OPS
PASS SLM
winner
Dennis
Spencer Jr.
#12 moved
into the
second
position
trying to
backup last
years
efforts.
Spencer
pulled up to
Cookson's
rear bumper
and was able
to keep
relatively
close
contact for
a 63 lap
green flag
run.
Michael
Scorzelli
#18 spun on
lap 99
bringing the
long green
flag run to
a close. The
yellow
allowed DJ
Shaw #60s
and Johnny
Clark #54 to
close back
up to the
field as
they started
sneaking up
on the top
5. Cautions
of course
breed
cautions and
Steve
Chicoine's
#01 went for
a spin a lap
later.
setting up a
regular 50
lap Saturday
Night
Feature for
Cookson and
friends.
On the
restart
Dennis
Spencer slid
down to the
bottom
behind
Cookson for
2nd. Curtis
Gerry and DJ
Shaw were
not as fast
as Cookson
in open
track, but
Cookson had
trouble
navigating
lap traffic
as well as
the veterans
Gerry and
Shaw.
Inside
of 10 laps
to go you
could throw
a blanket
over the top
3. Feeling
the pressure
from behind,
Cookson
moved the
lap car of
Tardif off
the bottom
and then
tried to do
the same
with Kyle
Salemi.
Salemi #63
would spin
with just 5
laps to go.
In the final
sprint
Cookson
would eek
out the win
over Curtis
Gerry, DJ
Shaw, Dennis
Spencer Jr.
and Johnny
Clark.
Max
Cookson has
now
accomplished
everything
he set out
to do at
Oxford this
season: A
top 5 in the
Oxford 250,
The OPS 2022
Track
Championship,
3 weekly
wins and now
a PASS SLM
win in just
his 8th tour
start.
"I was
just trying
to hold on
and get by
lappers.
Just so
thankful we
were able to
hold on.
This is
definitely
(my) #1
(achievement
so far in
racing). I'm
ready to get
into build
mode and get
ready for
next year".
While Max
maybe ready
to move on
to 2023 the
Pro All
Stars Series
isn't done
yet. On
Saturday
October
29th, 2022
the stars
and their
cars will be
in action
for the
final event
of the
season at
the New
London-Waterford
Speedbowl in
Connecticut.
This will be
the PASS's
first trip
to Waterford
with a lot
on the line.
Ryan Kuhn
#72, Eddie
MacDonald
#17ma and
Gabe Brown
#50 will all
enter the
final race
with a
chance to
win the 2022
PASS North
title.
Also, in
action at
Waterford
will be the
American
Canadian
Tour
(ACT)and the
New England
Supermodified
Series
(NESS) - a
great event
to cap off a
fantastic
2022 season.

PASS MODS
2022
CHAMPION:
GARRETT LAMB
#38 |
Brandon
Varney
Scores the
PASS MODS
Win;
Garrett Lamb
the 2022
PASS MODS
Champion |
The
Kennebec
Equipment
Rental PASS
MODS had a
50 Lap event
to cap of
their 2022
season.
Garrett Lamb
#38 came in
as the
points
leader by 25
points, but
Brandon
Varney #1v
still had a
chance at
the PASS
MODS Crown,
especially
after
picking up a
point in the
heat race.
Varney
needed to
win and
Garrett Lamb
would have
to finish
12th or
worse for
Varney to
pull off the
upset.
The
Championship
duo started
11th and
12th on the
field while
Troy Morse
#6 and
5-time PASS
MODS
Champion
Andy Shaw
#66 brought
the field to
the green.
Shaw was
almost
completely
sideways
exciting
turn two,
causing the
entire field
to scatter.
Everyone was
able to keep
it going in
the right
direction
before the
#83 of Dan
Brown went
for a spin,
causing the
first
caution on
lap 2.
Alex
Ricker #9
had
inherited
the 2nd spot
from Shaw 's
#66 just
before the
caution, but
Shaw would
quickly take
it back and
again
challenge
Troy Morse
for the
lead. The
top three
cars pulled
away in a
hurry from
the rest of
the field
soon to be
joined by
Garrett Lamb
and Brandon
Varney.
Knowing
he needed a
win,
Varney
sent his car
to the
second
groove and
passed the
top four in
just a
matter of
laps to take
over the
lead
officially
on lap 15.
Troy Morse
and Andy
Shaw battled
for the next
ten laps for
the second
spot before
Morse and
the inside
groove would
finally
prevail. But
Shaw may
have used up
his tires
trying to
make the
move in the
second
groove as he
was then
freight-trained
well outside
of the top
5.
Garrett Lamb
and Colby
Benjamin #52
were
eventually
able to make
the outside
lane work
for them as
they made
their charge
to the front
with a
bakers dozen
laps
remaining. A
caution for
Zach
Nicholson
#21 and
Chanler
Harrison #85
would bring
out the
second
caution of
the event.
The third
Caution
would fly
just a lap
later for
the #10 car
of Bill
Fiske,
setting the
field up for
another
restart.
On the
restart
Brandon
Varney did
everything
he could and
picked up
his fourth
PASS MODS
win on the
season.
Garrett Lamb
did more
than enough
to win the
war by
running
second on
the track
and
capturing
the
championship
by 22
points. Lamb
and Varney
both
celebrated
in Victory
Lane after
dueling
burnouts on
the
backstretch.
Also on the
podium was
Colby
Benjamin,
and rounding
out the top
5 was
Spencer
Morse and
Alex Ricker.

of the

the 2021
Champion
Jordan
Russell #4
started pole

#17 to his

Russell
would

Richard
Spaulding
#36 and Joey
Israelson #3
following
Russell on
the inside

Tyson.
The
40-lap main

spun on the
