2002 PASS Champions - Hi Tech
Performance Motorsports

Rowe
Wears 2002 PASS Crown |
Ben Rowe drove his Mechanical
Services/Superior Image/Hi Tech Insulation Chevrolet from provisional land to a fifth
place finish Sunday at Oxford Plains Speedway to secure the 2002 Pro All Stars Series
Championship. Rowe topped 2001 series champ Sam Sessions in a magnificent title run that
saw the Hi-Tech Racing Team earn five victories and fourteen top five finishes in the
fifteen 2002 Pro All Stars Series points events.
Rowe's wins came in two states and three Canadian provinces with victories at
Autodrome-Montmagny in Quebec, New Brunswick International Speedway and the Atlantic Cat
250 at Nova Scotia's Scotia Speedworld. Stateside wins were scored at White Mountain
Motorsports Park and Star Speedway.
Rowe's immaculate Chevrolets are owned by Tom and Eileen Estes and prepared by the
capable championship crew of Bill Hill, Rick White, Eddie Verrill, Ken Lawrence and Dave
Willette work under the guidance of crew chief Brian Burgess.
2001 PASS Champion Sam Sessions gave chase for much of the season and earned four
victories on his way to second in the final 2002 standings. Sessions broke though to
victory lane with a vengeance in 2002 with a three race win streak at mid season. The
Typar House Wrap/ AMF Custom Metal Fabrication team experienced several finishes outside
of the top twenty that would end their chances for a second consecutive crown.
Chuck LaChance was the picture of consistency throughout the season and while victory lane
eluded the veteran from Cushing Maine, consistent finishes earned the Fuller AutoMall Ford
driver a fine third place in the final standings. Kenny Wright earned race wins at
Wiscasset Raceway and Unity Raceway for Bill Chicks' Newmarket Sand and Gravel team and
unofficially ties with Northern Race Tires Rookie Challenge winner Johnny Clark for the
fourth spot in the standings. Clark had a strong rookie campaign in his D.N. K. Select
Used Cars Monte Carlo, running as high as second in the standings for much of the season.
Prince Edward Islands' Dave Gorveatt earned the long haul award almost every week and was
rewarded with a victory at Autodrome-Montmagny and sixth place in the final championship
tally. Larry Gelinas ended strong to come home seventh with Rookie runner-up Doug Averill
eigth, Scott Mulkern ninth and Russ Hersey tenth.
Over 130 drivers attempted to qualify for one or more of the fifteen PASS championship
series events in 2002.
