SPORTSMAN FINALE -
SUN., OCT. 17TH |

Top Three: L to R -
Clyde Hennessey, 3rd; Winner Dan McKeage; and Mike
Landry, 2nd. |
Dan Mckeage Wins
Riverside
Race &
the
2010 Sportsman Championship |
Groveton NH (10/18) Dan McKeage got around Clyde
Hennessey on lap 61 of the PASS Sportsman season finale
at Riverside Speedway and held off Mike” Landry at the
checkers to claim his second win of 2010. Landry crossed
the finish line second and Hennessey third. McKeage’s
win sealed a second PASS Sportsman Championship for the
Gorham Maine racer.
Hennessey led the field to
the green and he was in command for the majority of the
laps butt McKeage was in the right place at the right
time. Trouble in the low groove gave McKeage the break
he needed and he was quick to take advantage. Landry
made a pass on the low side to kick Hennessey back to
the third spot and the trio raced to the checkers in
that order. Nate Weston and RJ Austin completed the top
five. Heat race wins went to Landry, Hennessey and Rich
Paradis.
Unofficially there were several shifts
in the final point standings. Defending Sportsman
champion Carey Martin trailed McKeage by fourteen
heading into the finale but Martin had an afternoon he
would rather forget. He came back from a wreck to finish
sixth but ran fourth in his heat while third place point
man Landry claimed five markers for winning his. The
three point spread was just enough to give him Landry
second in the final standings. Hennessey remained in
fourth and Shane Tatro fifth despite being involved in a
late race wreck that left him 20th at the checkers. RJ
Austin’s top five helped him make a big move from tenth
to sixth, just one point back from Tatro.

PASS
Sportsman Division Headlines Opening Day at Spud
Speedway |
The Pro All Stars Series
(PASS) Sportsman division will travel to the crown of Maine
this Sunday May 30 for their first visit to Caribou’s Spud
Speedway, and the PASS teams are looking forward to the
challenge of competing on a new race track.
The PASS Sportsman racers kicked off their 2010
season at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on May 1st and 2009
series champion Carey Martin took down the win over Mike
Landry, the driver that chased Martin all summer long in the
2009 points race. Landry came up only two points shy of the
title when the final checker of 2009 flew. Expect this pair
and many more to do battle with Spuds own Coca Cola Super
Street regulars in a 75 green flag lap contest that’s sure
to keep race fans on the edge of their seats.

SATURDAY,
MAY 1ST |

Mike Landry, Winner Carey
Martin, & Clyde Hennesey |
Martin Snares PASS Sportsman Win |
25 cars lined up for
the first 75 lap PASS Sportsman feature of 2010.
2009 series champ Carey Martin took off from the
pole to lead early on with series regulars Clyde
Hennessey, Shane Tatro and Dan Mckeage hot on
his heels.. PASS newcomer Scott Dorr had his
sharp new sportsman in the mix early, but
contact with Craig Smith sent Dorr spinning.
Clyde Hennessey took a turn up front until Shane
Tatro powered on by for the lead. Tatro had his
problems on a lap 63 restart and went for a
spin, handing the lead to Hennessey with Dan
Mckeage now second and Martin third. Mike Landry
was all the way up to fourth after an early race
tangle that sent him to the back of the pack.
Mckeage got the best of Hennessey on the
next restart and Martin made his move under
Hennessey on lap 65 to claim second. Three laps
later Mckeage and Martin were in a dead heat at
the finish line. Martin claimed the lead for
good one lap later and Landry snatched the
second spot away from Hennessey. Mckeage slipped
back to fourth at the stripe and ageless Steve
Bennett Sr. completed the top five.
It
was Martin’s second visit to Beech Ridge victory
lane in as many races, and his fourth win in the
PASS Sportsman series .Martin and Dorr each
earned a heat race win.
Spud Speedway in
Caribou Maine will host their first ever PASS
Sportsman race on May 30. Check Spud out at
