Travis Benjamin Wins PASS North Finale
DJ Shaw Successful in Super Late Model
PASS North Championship Defense
Seekonk, Massachusetts - Travis Benjamin did all that he could do in his quest for a third Pro All Stars Series North Super Late Model championship, winning the season-ending 150-lapper at Seekonk Speedway. A seventh-place finish turned in by defending champion DJ Shaw proved to be enough to hold off Benjamin's rally in the title bout. It is the third PASS North Super Late Model championship for Shaw, his family team and chief supporters Julio & Rita Miglioli.

Benjamin was at his best on the tight Seekonk oval, winning his heat race to cut Shaw's lead entering the main event. Benjamin patiently worked his way from the back half of the starting grid, battling both regular PASS rivals and ultra-competitive weekly Pro Stock division competitors from the historic Bay State oval track.

Seekonk regular Ryan Vanasse led a huge chunk of the race, building a healthy advantage at times, but when Benjamin turned up the wick there was no one who could keep pace and he cruised into victory lane with the Petit Motorsports 7 for the second time this season.

Reid Lanpher of Manchester, Maine ended up in second position following an eventful afternoon. Lanpher won the biggest 'open' race of the season for the weekly Pro Stocks at Seekonk earlier this season. Nick Sweet of Barre, Vermont raced hard with the leaders throughout the 150-lap race to earn third-place hardware exactly one month after posting his first PASS North Super Late Model win.

Ben Tinker is PASS MODS Champion

Oxford, Maine - Reid Lanpher of Manchester, Maine nailed down his second Pro All Stars Series North Super Late Model victory of the season Sunday afternoon at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Lanpher, who started 11th, needed nearly the entire race to chase down six-time PASS North champion Johnny Clark of Farmingdale, Maine and take the race lead. Clark, who led the first 138 circuits in the 150-lap race, managed to hang on to second place after dominating most of the rain-delayed event.

The championship battle remained tight atop the PASS North points standings, with reigning series champion and 2018 leader DJ Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire just one spot better than his closest championship rival, Travis Benjamin of Morrill, Maine, another former series champion.

Ben Tinker of New Gloucester wrapped up his second consecutive PASS Mods championship with a sixth-place finish in a car usually driven by Patrick Sullivan. Tinker's car was destroyed in a vicious crash a couple of weeks previously which ended the season for a couple of other competitors. The champion expressed a desire to move up into the Super Late Model ranks next season.

Thriller at Thunder Road
Barre, Vermont - Hometown stock car racer Nick Sweet nailed down his first Super Late Model race win on Friday night, holding off Quebec competitor and fellow former Milk Bowl winner Patrick Laperle in an outstanding 150-lap Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model main event, highlighting Northfield Savings Bank Night Before The Milk Bowl action at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vermont.

Sweet, a two-time track champion at the high-banked, 1/4-mile oval, spent the opening portion of the race chasing Jeremy Davis of Tamworth, New Hampshire. Sweet claimed the race lead on the 36th circuit, setting the pace until current PASS North Super Late Model points leader DJ Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire took control with 50 laps remaining.

Laperle, always at his best when the ante rises on the racetrack, moved in and battled Shaw, swapping the lead as Sweet regrouped for his final charge. A late restart allowed Sweet to move by Shaw and back into contention, and after racing just about side by side for the final 20 laps Sweet got to the finish line just ahead of Laperle with Shaw, the reigning PASS North Super Late Model champion, third across the stripe.

PASS Super Late Model Racers Chase
Gary Smith at Beech Ridge
Scarborough, Maine -- Gary Smith of Bangor claimed his second career Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model win, and his first-ever Beech Ridge Motor Speedway victory, in the 150-lap main event at the historic Scarborough, Maine racetrack on Sunday afternoon.

Smith, 62, was ecstatic after outrunning his chassis builder, nine-time Oxford Plains Speedway champion Jeff Taylor of Farmington, to the checkered flag. The victory knocked an important entry off his bucket list. Smith joins a small list of Maine racers who have won premiere division events at all six modern-era asphalt racetracks in their home state.

Smith chased Westbrook's John Peters in the early stages of the race, and once in front he was never seriously challenged, although it looked for a short while like former Beech Ridge champion Reid Lanpher of Manchester might provide a test, but a spin after some contact took Lanpher out of contention for the victory while battling Taylor for second spot.

Taylor managed to hang on to second position in just his second appearance this year behind the wheel. Curtis Gerry of Waterboro, Maine rebounded from a bad heat race and almost going a lap down to Smith in the middle stages of the race to claim a third-place finish. Scarborough's Garrett Hall arced among the contenders throughout the 150-lapper to end up in fourth place.

North Woodstock, NH - Ben Rowe of Turner, Maine raced to his first Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model win of the year Saturday night at White Mountain Motorsports Park. Rowe won for the tenth time in PASS Super Late Model competition on White Mountain's high-banked, quarter-mile oval, by far the most in series history.

Rowe, the all-time PASS North leader in race victories. spent most of the race battling another multi-time series champion, Johnny Clark of Farmingdale, Maine, for the race lead. Rowe's final test was provided by Joey Pole, Jr. of Hudson, who mounted an impressive challenge after lining up 17th on the starting grid.

Pole earned runner-up honors, just ahead of Connecticut invader Dillon Moltz, who started dead last in the 150-lapper after changing engines in the pit area prior to the green flag. Clark, a six-time PASS North Super Late Model titlist, ended up in fourth position, just ahead of recently-crowned Oxford Plains Speedway Super Late Model champion Gabe Brown of Center Conway, New Hampshire.

Georgia racer wins in first-ever
Oxford Plains Speedway appearance

Oxford, Maine -- Bubba Pollard showed New England race fans that the reputation preceding him to the 45th Annual Clark’s Scrap Metal Oxford 250 was much more than hype, winning the biggest one-day short track Super Late Model race in his first attempt Sunday at Oxford Plains Speedway.  Pollard, from Senoia, Georgia, got his first look at the Speedway on Friday.

The definition of a true Super Late Model racing outlaw, Pollard, 31, convinced New England race fans that he’s clearly among the best short track racers in North America, conquering the unique Oxford Plains Speedway racetrack in his first attempt.  Pollard took the lead away from Travis Benjamin of Belfast, a two-time Oxford 250 champion in his own right, then outran another former 250 champion, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, New Hampshire to the checkered flag.

Reid Lanpher of Manchester made a late charge into third position during the closing laps.  Scarborough’s Garrett Hall ended up in fourth place after dominating more than half the race from his pole starting position, earning some $20,00-plus with lap leader bonuses included.  Berwick’s Joey Doiron, a former PASS Super Late Model National Champion, rounded out the top five.

Groveton, NH - DJ Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire raced to his second Pro All Stars Series North Super Late Model victory of the season Saturday night in the Creative Counters 151 at Speedway 51 in Groveton, New Hampshire.

Shaw, a two-time PASS North Super Late Model champion, remained atop the 2018 championship standings with his win, but little was added to his lead as his Precision JLM / Mulkern Excavating machine was followed under the checkered flag by Travis Benjamin of Belfast, Maine, currently ranked second in the PASS North Super Late Model standings.

Garrett Hall of Scarborough, Maine took a turn in front of the field, leading the race before Shaw took command and pulled away from the pack. Hall hung on to post a third-place finish after Benjamin claimed the runner-up spot late in the 151-lap race. Derek Ramstrom of Worcester, Massachusetts prevailed in an entertaining battle for fourth position versus Derek Griffith of Hudson, New Hampshire.

title defense with 150-lap
PASS Series triumph at OPS
Oxford, Maine - Curtis Gerry of Waterboro continued his recent dominance of Oxford Plains Speedway Pro All Stars Series North competition, outrunning Cassius Clark of Farmington and the rest of a 35-car starting field to claim victory in Sunday's 150-lap Super Late Model feature race.

For Gerry it was a fourth consecutive victory in Pro All Stars Series North competition at Oxford Plains Speedway, a streak that began with the 44th Annual Oxford 250 last August. It was also a series-best fourth PASS North victory of the season, including a 200-lap score at Scarborough's Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.

Gerry started the race from 11th position and methodically raced his way into contention while Cassius Clark set a blistering early pace aboard Rollie MacDonald's King Racing ride. Gerry made the most of a couple of late-race restarts to outgun Clark in the late going. Clark crossed the finish line in second position, about a second-and-a-half in front of Manchester's Reid Lanpher.

Super Late Model 150-lapper at
Beech Ridge Motor Speedway
Scarborough, Maine - Reid Lanpher of Manchester nailed down his first Pro All Stars Series North Super Late Model victory of the season Saturday night, dominating the non-stop, 150-lap event.

Lanpher, who had posted three runner-up finishes in six PASS North starts earlier this year, stalked an intense battle between Trevor Sanborn and Garrett Hall through the opening stages of the race before driving around the competition to win by almost five seconds.

Closest to Lanpher under the checkered flag was Curtis Gerry of Waterboro, like winner Lanpher a recent track champion at the venerable Scarborough speedplant. Gerry's second-place finish snapped a four-race win streak he had amassed in part-time PASS North competition, a streak that got underway at last year's rich Oxford 250.

Sanborn, of East Parsonsfield, raced with the leaders throughout the ultra-quick event and earned a third-place finish. Sanborn also turned in the fastest lap in the race while battling with Hall for the early race lead. Mike Rowe, the 67-year-old Maine and New England Racing Hall of Famer from Turner, made all of the kids earn their finishes while crossing the finish line in fourth position.

Firecracker 200
CARIBOU, MAINE (July 3) -For the first time in eight seasons, the Pro All Stars Series visited the famed 1/3-mile Spud Speedway in Caribou, ME. The track had not seen stock car racing since September of 2015, meaning fans were excited to see short track racing return to the county.

Twenty-one of the best in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic made the trek to Spud Speedway for the Aroostook Savings and Loan Firecracker 200, a "Road to Oxford and Richmond" qualifier event. Two drivers were unable to make the start of the event. Kyle DeSouza of Williamston, SC had a hard wreck late in practice which saw his car slide into the tire barrier in the first turn and roll violently before coming to a stop. The driver would be okay thanks to the quick response of safety crews. Local racer, Tharren MacDougall also made an attempt to qualify for the event but was unable to join the field for the start of the 200-lap feature.

Late Model Open score
Oxford, Maine - Tracy Gordon of Strong nailed down his first Super Late Model victory in several years, earning a guaranteed starting spot in the rich Oxford 250 with a 100-lap PASS Open race victory at Oxford Plains Speedway on Sunday night.

Gordon, the 1991 track champion, said "Wayne Helliwell won this race two years ago and then won the 250, and I told my guys before the race that's what we're gonna do."

Gordon, who had great success with the old NASCAR Busch North Series and other touring groups after his championship campaign at OPS, has raced thousands of laps at the Route 26 speedplant in his three-decade-plus racing career - a resume that surely would shine more brightly with a big 250 trophy on it.

Gordon began the 100-lap PASS open race from ninth starting position and did most of his work in impressive fashion from the tough outside groove, seemingly trying to dial in his machine for the big-money 250 coming up on Sunday, August 26.

Hermon, ME - DJ Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire drove to an impressive victory Sunday afternoon in the 150-lap Pro All Stars Series North Super Late Model main event at Speedway 95 in Hermon, Maine.

Shaw took the race lead a lap before the halfway point, charging back into contention aboard the Precision JLM 60 after restarting from the rear of the field following a pit stop with only 15 laps completed.

Six-time Pro All Stars Series North champion Johnny Clark of Farmingdale set sail in front of the Super Late Model field and looked strong over the course of the event's opening half, seeking his first win of the year.

Hometown Hermon racer Mike Hopkins also worked his way past Clark and made a valiant effort to chase down Shaw, which fell short by some four seconds under the checkered flag. Derek Griffith of Hudson, New Hampshire had to settle for third position in his quest for a second consecutive PASS North Super Late Model win at Speedway 95.

RIVER GLADE, NEW BRUNSWICK (June 3) - Cole Butcher prevailed over Ben Rowe after a great battle through the last 25 laps to win the inaugural Atlantic Fleet Completion Centre 150 at Petty International Raceway on Sunday afternoon for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models.
When the green flag waved to start the Atlantic Fleet Completion Centre 150, pole sitter Cole Butcher would take the initial lead from Cassius Clark who started outside Butcher on the front row. Just one lap later at Lap 2, the first caution flag of the day would wave when the King Racing #13 of Cassius Clark would lose a wheel sending him hard into the turn 3 wall and ending that team's day.

The Lap 3 restart would again see Butcher take the lead over DJ Shaw and Jonathan Hicken who were closely followed by fellow competitors Derek Griffith and Kyle Reid who would run in that order until Lap 23 when caution would fly for the second time of the event for the cars of Dylan Gosbee, Chris Duncan, and Shawn Turple who got collected in turns 3 & 4. This would set up a front row restart for Butcher and Shaw and the longest green flag run of the race.

Curtis Gerry stays hot in PASS Super Late Model action with Beech Ridge 200 victory
Scarborough, Maine -- Curtis Gerry of Waterboro continued his recent dominance of the Maine Super Late Model scene with his second Pro All Stars Series North victory of the season Saturday in the Beech Ridge 200 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine.

Gerry, triumphant in a 150-lapper at Oxford Plains Speedway on the previous weekend, has four victories in his last five PASS North starts, a streak that began with a rich Oxford 250 score last August. At Beech Ridge Gerry started in the middle of the field and worked his way into contention by the time a scheduled competition caution with 75 laps to go, allowing teams to change two tires and make other adjustments.

Gerry quickly worked his way from third into the lead within a couple of laps and led the final 73 laps to outdistance fellow former Beech Ridge NASCAR champion Reid Lanpher of Manchester. Mike Hopkins of Hermon battled with defending PASS North Super Late Model champion Travis Benjamin for some 70 laps to earn a spot on the podium with Gerry and Lanpher.

Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Top 3 Finishers Get Guaranteed Spots For Oxford 250 & Richmond's Commonwealth Classic.

Dillon, Thompson, Richmond, North-South Shootout At Concord And Meltdown At Hickory Fill Out Remainder Of Championship Schedule.

NAPLES, ME (January 26) - Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials have released the six dates and locations that will make up the 11th Annual PASS National Championship Series. The schedule is comprised of six premier Super Late Model events, at a diverse group of tracks in both PASS North and PASS South, that will determine an overall PASS National Champion. The PASS National Championship Series will see the champion crowned in the final race of the 2018 season at Hickory Motor Speedway in the 13th Annual Mason-Dixon Meltdown 200. And, for the first time ever, the PASS National Championship Series will visit Richmond Raceway in Virginia to headline the inaugural Commonwealth Classic on October 19-20. Additionally, the Spring's most prestigious short track race in the country, the 13th Annual Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway, will now see the top three finishers get guaranteed starting spots, not only for the 45th Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway, but also for the Commonwealth Classic at Richmond.

Since 2008, some of the best short track racers in North America have captured the PASS National Championship including Cassius Clark, Ben Rowe, Preston Peltier, Jay Fogleman, and Joey Doiron. While awards are currently still being finalized, the champion will once again receive a one-of-a-kind championship trophy featuring the American Bald Eagle. Additional awards will be announced at a later date.

"11 years ago, with our presence across the Eastern Seaboard and Canada, we felt the time was right to crown Super Late Model racing's only National champion," said PASS President Tom Mayberry. "This is probably the most diverse schedule we've ever put together with tracks of varying sizes and shapes to compete on. The Oxford 250 continues to be one of the crown jewels of short track racing. And, the addition of Richmond, will put all the competitors on a neutral site for the first time. "

The PASS National Championship Series, along with the 2018 PASS South championship season, gets underway in just one month with the 13th Annual South Carolina Clash at Dillon Motor Speedway in South Carolina on February 24. Fans will get to see drivers from across the spectrum of short track racing as the PASS Super Late Models will race for 200 laps and $6,000 to win and $700 to start, plus a major event for the Dillon Motor Speedway SuperTrucks paying $1000 to win and a UCAR/FWD race paying $500 to win as part of the South
Carolina Clash.

From Dillon Motor Speedway in February, the 2018 PASS National Championship Series will kick off the New England racing season and will be contested again at one of the fastest tracks in the country. The PASS Super Late Models will compete for 75 laps at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Connecticut as part of the annual Icebreaker weekend April 7-8, along with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. The Icebreaker will also once again double as the PASS North Super Late Model championship season opener.

The PASS National Championship Series will stay in New England for perhaps the most legendary of all short track races. The 45th Annual Oxford 250 at Maine's Oxford Plains Speedway on August 26 will continue a tradition that started in 1974 and has seen such winners as Butch Lindley, Geoff Bodine, Junior Hanley, Ricky Craven, Kevin Harvick, and Kyle Busch. And, with one of the richest purses in all of Super Late Model racing, the Oxford 250 should once again attract North America's best drivers, all competing for the $25,000 winner's share, plus an additional $25,000 in lap leader money. The 2017 winner, Waterboro, ME's Curtis Gerry, bested over 60 other drivers to claim over $30,000 for his first win in the prestigious race.

The Fall will be busy with the PASS National Championship moving South for the final three events of the season. The PASS Super Late Models will headline the inaugural PASS Commonwealth Classic at Richmond Raceway on Saturday night, October 20. The PASS Super Late Models will compete in a 100-lap event on the famed three-quarter mile oval, paying $10,000 to win and $700 to start. Additionally, Late Model Stocks will return to Richmond Raceway for the first time in a number of years, competing in a 75 lap race, paying $7,000 to win and $700 to start. Both the Limited Late Models and Street Stocks will make their first ever starts at Richmond Raceway with the Limiteds racing for 50 laps and $4000 to win and the Street Stocks racing for 25 laps and $2000 to win.

Finally, the PASS National Championship Series will conclude just one week later with the 13th Annual Mason-Dixon Meltdown 200 on Saturday, November 10 at the legendary Hickory Motor Speedway. The 200 lap contest will once again crown both the PASS National Championship Series and PASS South Super Late Model champions.

The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America's premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as PASS South's Easter Bunny 150 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway and the legendary Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway, and new for 2018, the inaugural Commonwealth Classic at Richmond Raceway.

Last year, Curtis Gerry took home over $30,000 in his first ever win in the 250.

A final tune-up to the Oxford 250 will take place on Sunday, July 29 at Oxford Plains Speedway. In addition, Oxford Plains Speedway will once again host the PASS North Super Late Models on Sunday, April 15, and Sunday May 20 and will crown the PASS North titlist with the season finale on Saturday, October 13.

Following a successful debut in 2016, PASS will again sanction a special Independence Day weekend show at Oxford Plains Speedway on Sunday, July 1. This event will be a non-points event, featuring PASS "non-winners." The winner will be given a guaranteed starting spot for the 45th Annual Oxford 250.

In 2018, PASS North returns to Canada debuting at Petty International Raceway in New Brunswick on Saturday, June 2. PASS North will also be returning to Speedway 51 in Groveton, NH on Saturday, August 11 for the first time since Trevor Sanborn took the checkered flag there in 2010.

Maine's Beech Ridge Motor Speedway will host the PASS North Super Late Models three times in 2018, featuring the PASS 300 on Saturday, April 28, followed by events on Saturday, July 7, and on Saturday, September 22.

Speedway 95 in Hermon, ME returns to the PASS North schedule for a fifth consecutive year with a 150 lap event slated for Sunday, June 17.

PASS will make its first of four trips in 2018 to the state of New Hampshire on Saturday, May 5 at Star Speedway. PASS will make its only stop of the year at White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday, September 15. The series will also be in the Granite State on Friday, August 3 for an event at Lee USA Speedway.

The Super Late Models of PASS will compete again at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Vermont, but for the first time ever, will have two races there. The PASS North Super Late Models will race for 150 laps, joined by the Thunder Road Late Models, for the Mekkelsen Memorial Day Classic 100 on Sunday, May 27. Then, the night before the 56th Annual Milk Bowl at Thunder Road, PASS North will return for a 150 lap race on Friday, September 28.

The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America's premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as the legendary Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway and PASS South's Easter Bunny 150 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway.
