Ben Rowe’s put his Mechanical Services/Superior Image Chevrolet out front at the initial green flag and led all but one lap of the Kawasaki-Polaris of Laconia 150 at North Woodstock’s (NH) White Mountain Motorsports Park to capture his eighth Pro All Stars Series victory of 2003.

The victory didn’t come easy as Rowe had to fend off early race challenges from Cassius Clark then Gordon and Sam Sessions to claim the win. Gordon looked to have the faster car for much of the night, sticking the nose of his Gordon Lumbering Chevrolet under Rowe on several occasions as they staged a classic short track duel over the event’s final 75 laps. He did take the lead briefly prior to a caution flag on lap 84 but Rowe powered past on the restart to reclaim the top spot. Rowe was battling a loose condition throughout the race but the 2002 PASS champ had just enough race car to keep Gordon in his mirror.

Sam Sessions looked strong at the two-thirds mark, taking advantage of Rowe and Gordon’s battle to get the jump on Gordon for second on lap 99. Sessions couldn’t make the move on Rowe and found himself slipping back on the outside on a subsequent restart. Larry Gelinas then took a shot at the front running pair and the July White Mountain PASS winner battled side by side with Gordon for several laps before settling into the third position.

At the checkers it was Rowe, Gordon and Gelinas nose to tail with Jeff Taylor fourth and Johnny Clark a strong fifth after working his way back through the field from an early race pit stop. Sessions settled for sixth with Gary Smith seventh. Dale Shaw, Andy Shaw and Scott Mulkern rounded out the top ten.

Johnny Clark was fastest among the thirty-seven cars that went under the clocks in Sunoco Race Fuels time trials with a lap of 12.236 seconds, .020 seconds quicker than Rowe. Rowe came from the fourth starting position to capture the pole in the fast car dash. Heat wins went to Mike Rowe, Allan Wilson and Travis Kheil. Dale Shaw and Bobby Allen earned consolation round wins. Kheil also earned the Northern Race Tires Rookie of the Race award.
